Spathiphyllum leaf tips dry out: how to save the plant
The popular houseplant spathiphyllum ("woman's happiness") is unpretentious in its care. However, these beautiful, elegant flowers sometimes get sick. In particular, their leaf tips can dry out.
OBOZ. UA knows what to do in such a situation and how to save "women's happiness."
Why do the tips of spathiphyllum leaves dry out?
Dried leaf tips in indoor plants (including spathiphyllum) usually appear due to a lack of moisture in the soil and in the air. This is especially true in the cold season when the heating is turned on.
Another reason for the leaves to "dry out" is excessive sunlight or high soil moisture. In the latter case, drying leaves indicate rotting of the root system, which can result in the death of the flower.
How to revitalize a dried up spathiphyllum
If you notice that the leaves of a spathiphyllum are turning yellow and drying at the ends, act quickly.
First, change the soil completely and do it carefully. When replacing, the soil must be dry so as not to damage the delicate roots of the "woman's happiness."
Tip: Inspect the roots – if there are dry or rotten processes, remove them and treat the "wounds" with peroxide. Then put new soil in the pot and water the spathiphyllum.
Place the plant in a place without drafts and direct sunlight. After a while, you can feed the spathiphyllum, for which it is better to use mineral rather than organic fertilizers.
