Sowing calendar for January-2025: what to do and when

In January, nature rests, but for experienced gardeners, it is a time of planning and preparation for the new season. The first month of the year is favorable for sowing some plants for seedlings. The best days for sowing are determined by the lunar calendar.

The lunar cycle affects many natural processes, including plant growth.

• January 1-13 is the growing moon phase. This period is considered favorable for sowing seedlings of plants whose root system develops underground.
• January 14 is the full moon. During this period, it has long been advised to refrain from gardening.
• On January 15-28, the Moon will be waning. People say that in the warm season this is a favorable time for pruning plants, weeding and other work related to the aerial parts of plants.
• January 29 is the new moon. The moon's energy is minimal during this period, so it's best to rest and spend time planning.
• On January 30-31, the Moon will start growing again.

Favorable days for sowing seedlings in January 2025

The most favorable dates for gardening in the first month of 2025 will be the following days: January 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 22, 23, 27, 28, 31.

Unfavorable days in January

January 14, 15, 16, 29, 30 are unfavorable days according to the lunar calendar. You should not engage in active sowing at this time. But you can prepare seeds for early planting on these dates, shelter perennials in the garden from frost, or check and clean garden tools.

Favorable days for different crops

Favorable days for each crop may vary slightly. It is recommended to refer to special lunar sowing calendars that describe in detail all the favorable and unfavorable days for each crop.

On January 5-6, 8-9, 15-16, 21-22, you can plant early tomatoes for seedlings.
