Shuba salad without herring: how to replace the main ingredient to make the salad even tastier
The Shuba salad is a classic among the dishes that used to be prepared for any festive table. However, times change and gastronomic preferences change with them. That's why sometimes you really want to taste a familiar dish but prepared in a new way.
Food blogger Yulia Senych shared on Instagram how to make Shuba salad without using herring. She claims that replacing it alone can make the salad even tastier.
Ingredients:
- Boiled potatoes - 3-4 pcs.
- Boiled carrots - 2-3 pcs.
- Onion - 1 pc.
- Salmon s\s - 400 gr.
- Beetroot - 1-2 pcs.
- Mayonnaise - 250 gr.
- Eggs - 5 pcs.
Ingredients for pickling onions:
- Vinegar - 1 tbsp.
- Sugar - 1 tsp.
- Oil - 1 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. First layer: grate the potatoes on a coarse grater. Lubricate with mayonnaise.
2. Second layer: cut the salmon into thin slices. Put it on the potatoes.
3. Third layer: pickled onions. Finely chop the onion, add vinegar, sugar and oil. Mix and leave for 10 minutes. Put the onions on the salmon and brush with mayonnaise.
4. Fourth layer: grate the eggs on a fine grater, brush with mayonnaise, and grate the carrots on top on a coarse grater, brush with mayonnaise.
5. Fifth layer: grate the beets on a coarse grater. Spread with mayonnaise and sprinkle with finely grated eggs. Leave to soak for 3-4 hours in the refrigerator.
