French biathlete Emilien Jacquelin could have won the pursuit race at the 2nd stage of the World Cup in Hochfilzen, Austria, but hit Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bø's skis. The second best biathlete in the world allegedly "knocked off" his French opponent on the last lap.

Jacquelin tried to pass his rival on the outer radius on the way up but gave way to Johannes, which was when they came into contact, after whic Emilien fall. The Frenchman's fans accused the Norwegian of foul play.

Experts analyzed the incident on French television in detail, confirming that Bø did not change trajectory, and the contact was more of a tactical miscalculation by Jacquelin.

Emilien himself took the situation calmly, saying in an interview with the IBU: "If I think about my race, it is quite a good race, nearly perfect with one mistake, really fast on the tracks. I could not make better than this." The leader of the French team admitted that he had a chance to win but it was not his day.

Johannes Bø also commented on the incident, "It was an incredible fight. You know, when you are in a race incident, we are close; he was attacking. He fell; too bad, but it is how it is."

The rivals emphasized that they held no grudges against each other and hugged each other warmly during the award ceremony.
