Salaries in Ukraine have increased significantly in some areas: who is ready to be paid more than 100 thousand
Employers are ready to offer the highest salaries in Ukraine (up to UAH 120 thousand) to manual workers: welders, CNC (computer numerical control) operators, etc. However, lawyers, economists, and librarians are currently having the hardest time finding jobs due to a lack of demand.
This was stated by Yulia Zhovtyak, Director of the State Employment Service, in a commentary to the media. According to her, almost all sectors of the economy are experiencing a shortage of personnel.
The most difficult situation is observed in such industries as transportation, construction and manufacturing. The Ministry of Economy predicts that over the next ten years, Ukraine will lack about 4.5 million workers.
The largest unmet employer demand is for skilled workers. Seamstresses , electricians, plumbers, welders, car mechanics, and CNC machine operators are the most in-demand specialists. For example, electric welders are offered salaries of up to UAH 100,000, and CNC machine operators are paid up to UAH 120,000 per month.
Instead, structural unemployment persists in the labor market. This is a phenomenon when the professional skills of employees do not meet the needs of the market. For example, a significant number of job seekers among economists, lawyers, librarians, postmen and other professionals cannot find a job due to a lack of demand from employers.
To address the problem of staff shortages and structural unemployment, Zhovtyak says the State Employment Service is actively retraining citizens. For example, training programs allow people to acquire a new profession, especially in high-demand industries. Registered unemployed people can study at public expense, and people over 45, veterans, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and people with disabilities can use training vouchers.
Among the new phenomena in the labor market, Zholnovych notes an increase in the number of women in traditionally "male" professions. For example, in 2024, about 300 women became machine tool operators, 128 became crane operators, and almost 200 more mastered the profession of tractor driver.
Due to the shortage of specialists, employers are forced to introduce new ways to attract workers. The standard salary is supplemented by
- payment of housing rent or participation in housing loan programs;
- health insurance for employees and their families;
- free meals;
- organization of transportation to the place of work.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, remote work is becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine. One of the reasons is the opportunity to earn good money without leaving home. In particular, some employers are ready to pay their employees UAH 40 thousand or more in salary.
