Quest missions and interactive tours in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Available from anywhere in the world
The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra presented new interactive tour projects on its territory. The goals of the programs are: "excursion freedom" and an interesting approach to the study of history, as well as the popularization of Ukrainian history. Oboz.ua found out where and how you can get to the new-technology walks around the Lavra.
If you have a gadget with a screen and an Internet connection, you can travel to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra from anywhere in the world. You just need to follow three steps:
- download the freegenGO app,
- register,
- choose the desired historical period.
Once done, you can enjoy the walk with audio accompaniment. The app is available in two languages: Ukrainian and English. You can also choose different periods of history, each of which will introduce you to a dozen prominent personalities: Nestor the Chronicler, Ilya Muromets, Alipiy of the Caves, and others. This feature allows you to learn more about the desired period of history and its figures and prevent confusion in historical facts. The periods available are: the princely era, the Lithuanian-Cossack era, and the modern era.
If you are using the app abroad, you will be able to take virtual tours with audio narration on behalf of famous personalities. Visiting the Lavra physically will add interesting features such as scanning QR codes, earning special points, participating in quizzes, etc.
This is a particularly interesting format for school-age children, as they turn into real researchers. After passing a certain stage, children can answer the questions of the audio guide and earn extra points or lose them. Inquisitive adults will also be pleased with the walk and the abundance of useful information. All you need to do is
- visit the Lavra,
- scan one of the three QR codes,
- follow the instructions in the app.
The tour "Lavra from a New Angle" will take you through the courtyards and streets of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, allowing you to look into the: The Assumption Cathedral, many churches, cell buildings and beyond the walls to the Lower Lavra. The mission lasts 45 minutes and consists of 9 main points on the map and is designed for a personal visit to the Lavra. Entrance to some sites is possible only with a ticket.
The freegenGO app itself has many virtual tours, articles, and blogs that will be useful and interesting to travelers around the world. Some tours are available only after payment and most are absolutely free.
We would like to remind you that you can also visit the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra virtually through the official website lavra.ua.
