Professional cleaner names the dirtiest places in the house your guests notice right away
You're definitely not alone if you spend a lot of time cleaning your home before guests arrive. But have you ever asked yourself what parts of your home they actually see and whether it's worth spending so much effort cleaning?
The answer comes from Sarah Baker-Holtom, a professional cleaner who gives home care tips on her Instagram. She has been running a cleaning business for many years and knows exactly what to do, how to do it, and when to do it to enjoy cleanliness.
She called her post a "truth bomb". She simply gave a list of places that guests really pay attention to.
She named the toilet as the main problem area. The sight of an unwashed toilet can be disgusting to people. It is also a source of unpleasant odors and, of course, infections. Thus, be sure to keep your toilet clean. Use a toilet bowl cleaner designed specifically for toilets. Don't forget the area under the rim! Leave it for 15-20 minutes for the product to work. During this time, it will soften limescale deposits and kill bacteria. Then scrub the surface with a brush, moving from the edge to the bottom, and rinse thoroughly, draining the water several times. Be sure to wipe the seat.
Here are the other 9 points that Sarah believes you need to pay attention to when preparing your home for guests:
- Mold and damp spots on the walls.
- Any pest traps in visible places.
- Things and areas that smell unpleasant, such as the trash can, dirty bathroom, pet areas.
- Mold and limescale in the bathroom.
- An overflowing ashtray and the smell of cigarette smoke.
- Insects.
- Crumbling plaster.
- Clutter in the area where your pet lives and plays.
- Dirty clothes and especially underwear on the floor.
Walk around the house keeping this list in mind. If you find any of these problems, fix them, and your home will immediately start looking tidier. The rest of the cleaning is up to you. "Let me say that everyone has their own personal level of tidiness, so this doesn't mean I'm judging anyone. I am here to provide support," the blogger wrote in her post.
