Poor sleep and unhealthy diet: what can cause constant fatigue
Feeling tired can be caused by a variety of factors, ranging from poor sleep to mental or physical health issues.
It is not surprising that fatigue can have a negative impact on your well-being and other aspects of your life. The National Health Service of Great Britain lists several common reasons for this, OBOZ.UA writes.
So, among the most popular reasons:
- Lack of sleep or insomnia.
- Unhealthy lifestyle (for example, unhealthy diet and lack of exercise).
- Stress, depression, and dealing with life problems, such as the loss or care of a small child.
- Hormonal changes (e.g., during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause).
- Certain diseases, such as glandular fever and COVID-19.
- Certain medical procedures and medications, such as chemotherapy, can make you sleepy for a while.
However, if you experience fatigue for a long time and cannot pinpoint the cause, it may indicate a serious medical condition.
Anxiety and depression are also linked to chronic fatigue, which is why some people feel tired even after the recommended six to nine hours of sleep.
Physical health disorders such as sleep apnea, anemia, and menopause can also cause frequent fatigue.
Other conditions that can lead to fatigue include diabetes, thyroid hyperfunction (hyperthyroidism), myalgic encephalomyelitis, or chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).
In this case, fatigue can lead to slower reactions, decreased ability to process information, memory lapses, distraction, and impaired coordination. In this case, you should immediately consult a doctor.
