One of the most beautiful in Europe: the historic city in Poland offers affordable prices and stunning architecture
Krakow is known for its history, incredible architecture and relatively low prices by European standards. The city has eight separate parks that form a circular walking route. It is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee while admiring nature.
Experts called Krakow an ideal place for an autumn city vacation. The city's historic district was one of the first sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is one of the best historical monuments in Poland.
In late autumn, the weather in Krakow can be chilly with temperatures typically reaching highs between 5°C and 10°C, meaning travelers need to remember to pack warm clothes.
In the fall, the city is filled with golden, red, yellow and crimson hues. This spectacle is especially beautiful in the Plante Park, which frames the Old Town.
Krakow is a city with stunning architecture and the famous Market Square, known as Rynek Główny, which offers a glimpse into Poland's rich history.
The city is filled with flat, cobblestone streets, making it extremely convenient for visitors who prefer to soak up the surroundings rather than rush from one tourist spot to another.
Rynek Główny is the second largest market square in Europe. It is home to the impressive 14th-century St. Mary's Basilica, which features intricate Gothic spires and ornate decoration.
In the center of the market square are the Cloth Rows, also known as Sukennice. It is one of the city's most famous landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside there is a gallery filled with stalls selling everything from sweets to clothes, jewelry and souvenirs.
The building also houses a museum on the top floor called the Sukienice Museum, which contains the largest exhibition of 19th-century Polish painting and sculpture.
The Rynek Underground Museum is located under the central square and takes visitors on a journey through the city's history through photographs, recreations, and archaeological finds.
On a hill near the Vistula River stands the royal Wawel Castle, which incorporates the architectural styles of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque. Inside, visitors will see huge collections of paintings, tapestries, armor, ceramics, and antique furniture.
If you're not a history buff and just want to sit back and enjoy the city, there are many bars and pubs in the city that are incredibly affordable.
