One day to go: tariffs for those traveling abroad by car will rise sharply in Ukraine

Ukraine has increased the cost of Green Card policies by 5%, and the new prices will come into effect on July 19, 2024. This increase will affect all categories of vehicles, including cars, buses, trucks, and motorcycles.

This was reported by the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau (MTIBU). The new prices will come into force on July 19, 2024.

This increase will affect all owners of vehicles traveling outside Ukraine to European countries. The cost of insurance payments under the Green Card insurance contracts will be as follows:

For passenger cars with a passenger capacity of up to 9 people and cars with a total weight of up to 3500 kg:

for 15 days – UAH 1,214 (previously UAH 1,156);
for 1 month – UAH 1, 934 (previously UAH 1,841);
for 3 months – UAH 5,217 (previously UAH 4,968);
for 6 months – UAH 10,120 (previously UAH 9,636);
for 1 year – UAH 13,493 (previously UAH 12,849).

For buses:

for 15 days – UAH 4,542 (previously UAH 4,235);
for 1 month – UAH 6,342 (previously UAH 6,039);
for 3 months – UAH 12,639 (previously UAH 12,035);

for 6 months – UAH 22,129 (previously UAH 21,072);
for 1 year – UAH 41,110 (previously UAH 39,147).

For trucks:

for 15 days – UAH 2,598 (previously UAH 2,474);
for 1 month – UAH 3,794 (previously UAH 3,613);
for 3 months – UAH 9,222 (previously UAH 8,781);
for 6 months – UAH 17,019 (previously UAH 16,206);
for 1 year – UAH 32,196 (previously UAH 30,658).

For motorcycles:

for 15 days – UAH 494 (previously UAH 471);
for 1 month – UAH 674 (previously UAH 642);
for 3 months – UAH 1,574 (previously UAH 1,499);
for 6 months – UAH 2,878 (previously UAH 2,741);
for 1 year – UAH 4,497 (previously UAH 4,283).

The Certificate of International Motor TPL Insurance, known as the "Green Card", is an international certificate of insurance recognized by the authorities of all 50 countries that are members of the international "Green Card" system. This certificate is issued in Ukraine by insurance companies that are full members of MTIBU.

"The Green Card covers damage caused by the driver of a secured vehicle to third parties in the territory of the member countries of the system. In the event of a road accident, the damage caused by a foreign driver is indemnified by a foreign insurer, and the damage caused by an uninsured driver is covered by the National Bureau or the Guarantee Fund of the country where the accident occurred. When crossing the border by car, the Green Card is a mandatory document. It is a kind of car insurance for traveling outside the country.
