Not everyone knows: list of electrical appliances that should be kept plugged in
Power outages are making adjustments to the lives of Ukrainians. To save electricity, many people practice unplugging appliances that are not in use.
However, experts say that not all appliances should be unplugged, as this can cause problems. Saving energy by unplugging appliances can be useful, but for certain appliances, it is better to use the power button.
Inkjet printer
Experts say that you should not turn off your inkjet printer. If you turn off the device by unplugging it instead of pressing the power button, problems can arise. This causes the print head to not go to sleep. When you turn it on again, the print head is cleaned, which in turn causes significant and wasted ink consumption.
OLED TV
Experts once again emphasize that modern OLED TVs can even fail if they are regularly disconnected. The fact is that the pixels on these screens are automatically updated in the background. There is a risk that constant interruption of the process may negatively affect the image quality. It is better to consult with the manufacturer beforehand about the need to turn off the device completely.
Wi-Fi router
Wi-Fi routers should be turned off overnight only if there are no important connected devices. For example, routers are necessary for the remote operation of some gadgets or smart home technology.
Also, you should not unplug:
- Refrigerators and freezers as turning them off leads to food spoilage.
- Security and alarm systems.
- Smart thermostats, so as not to disrupt the operation of heating and cooling systems.
- Life support systems, including medical devices.
