New 5 UAH banknotes appeared in Ukraine: what they look like
The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation a new commemorative 5 UAH coin. The coin is dedicated to Serhii Parajanov, a filmmaker who represented the wave of Ukrainian poetic cinema. The coin has a mintage of 7,500 pieces and is made of 925 silver.
This was reported by the National Bank itself. They noted that commemorative coins "Serhii Parajanov" will be available from September 10, 2024, in the online store of numismatic products of the National Bank of Ukraine.
"This year marks the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth. In his honor, the National Bank will put into circulation the commemorative coin "Serhii Parajanov" on September 4, 2024. It continues the series "Outstanding Personalities of Ukraine" and is a symbol of the indomitability, creative freedom, and eternal search for truth by Sergei Parajanov, whose legacy still lives on in every frame, in every scene," the statement said.

What the new coin looks like
The obverse (front side) of the coin features a stylized image of a pomegranate fruit in a section and its grains against a mirror background. This image is "a kind of allusion to the maestro's naked soul, in which a huge place was given to Ukraine, where he lived and worked for some time."
The reverse side features a stylized portrait of Serhii Parajanov, as well as a collage of fragments of his works. Above the composition are the inscriptions:
- "Serhii Parajanov;
- "100".
The new coin is dedicated to the director Serhii Parajanov.

Where to buy the coin
The commemorative coins "Serhii Parajanov" will be available for purchase starting from September 10, 2024, in the online store of numismatic products of the National Bank of Ukraine. In addition, the coins will be sold at distributor banks:
- Ukrgasbank;
- Tascombank
- PrivatBank
- Oschadbank;
- FUIB.
"Sales by distributing banks will be carried out gradually as they are shipped by the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works," the NBU said.
