Neuralink has implanted an implant into a human brain for the second time, designed to give paralyzed patients the ability to use digital devices using only their thoughts. According to owner Elon Musk, "everything is working very well."

He made this statement on Lex Friedman's podcast, according to Reuters. "I don't want to jinx it, but it looks like everything went very well with the second implant. There are a lot of signals, a lot of electrodes. Everything is working very well," he said.

Musk said that the patient had a spinal cord injury similar to that of the first person to receive the Neuralink implant. He also added that the second patient's brain has 400 electrodes functioning. The Neuralink website states that the implant uses 1024 electrodes.

In addition, Musk announced that in 2024, Neuralink plans to provide its implants to eight more patients in clinical trials.

It is worth noting that American billionaire Elon Musk's company Neuralink showed a video of the first patient to be implanted with a brain chip. In it, a man with paralysis was able to control the cursor on a computer screen to play chess with his mind.

Earlier, Neuralink founder Elon Musk said that the first patient implanted with a brain chip had fully recovered and could already control a computer mouse with his mind. According to him, the company is trying to get as many mouse clicks from the patient as possible.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Neuralink startup aims to help people with disabilities feel fulfilled. However, the project has recently faced harsh criticism from the scientific community, which points out potential risks and talks about ethical issues.
