A massive fire broke out in the Russian city of Kursk on the morning of July 2. Black smoke can be seen billowing over the site from different parts of the city.
The fire is being extinguished by 60 employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations with the help of a dozen units of special equipment. According to Russian media and local channels, the fire could have broken out on the territory of a military unit of the occupying army.
The first reports of a massive fire in the center of Kursk appeared on local Telegram channels after 10 a.m.
"There is a fire in Kursk. Smoke is visible from different parts of the city. We are clarifying the details," one of them wrote.
Russians began posting numerous photos and videos of black smoke from different parts of the city.
Later, the fire was confirmed by the deputy governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov.
"We are currently extinguishing the fire in the center of Kursk. 10 units of special equipment and 60 personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Kursk region are working at the scene. The fire is localized. No information about the victims was received. The cause of the fire is being established," he wrote.
Some local channels claim that the fire broke out "in the area of Pobeda and Deriglazov avenues", while others specify that it is burning "on Karl Marx Street". The 3754th Central Aircraft Technical Base (military unit 13830) was registered on this street.
According to some reports, the fire could have started on its territory. This is what some OSINT investigators are sure of.
Others claim that it is the parking lot of the same base, located at coordinates 51.77202469061592, 36.19163770965487, that is on fire.
And InformNapalm added that the military unit 64055 (16th Separate Electronic Warfare Brigade) is located next to the base.
