List of Odesa region estuaries you can relax at no worse than by the sea

Not everyone knows about these places. Read on to find out which locations make tourists fall in love with them.

Tylihul

The cleanest body of water in the Black Sea region. It stretches from Viktorivka to Koblev for more than 50 kilometers. Two nature reserves of national importance have been created on the estuary, which have become home to hundreds of rare waterfowl. The average water temperature ranges from 24°C.

Tourists can enjoy many types of outdoor activities here. One of the most popular ones are kayaking and SUP-boarding. Those who like to sunbathe and swim are advised to go to the coast near the village of Kordon. You can also visit the Oysterville oyster farm.

In addition, the estuary offers additional entertainment for adults and attractions for children. Daredevils can try paragliding or hang gliding, or even learn kitesurfing. By the way, the local mud is healing. It helps with dermatological, nervous diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

There are many comfortable recreation centers near the natural location, so you can safely go here for a few days.

Kuialnyk

The natural object is located northwest of Odesa. The salt basin was formed as a result of the separation of a part of the Black Sea. It has a unique microclimate and a high level of water mineralization.

There are sanatoriums and health centers on the shores. The most popular of them is Kuialnyk. It was founded in 1833. Today, it has a modern clinic specializing in the treatment of respiratory, nervous system, joint, and dermatological diseases.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, we recommend windsurfing, as well as pedal boating and kayaking.

Be sure to visit Lavandiia, a large-scale walking space with more than 12 hectares of lavender. There is also a swimming pool and an eco-glamping area.

Khadzhibey

One of the oldest mud resorts in Ukraine. It gained popularity in the early XIX century. The shore of the estuary is famous for its large sandy beach, which is ideal for climatotherapy. It also offers therapeutic procedures using iodine-bromine baths and physiotherapy manipulations.

By the way, you can often meet fishing enthusiasts here. The underwater world is very diverse. It is home to crabs, shrimps, silver carp, pike perch, and gobies.

Dniester

The water basin is located on the northwestern coast of the Black Sea. The estuary stretches for more than 42 kilometers and includes several small islands, lakes, and bays.

Keep in mind that in 2023, swimming was banned in the reservoir. Nevertheless, the location has something to surprise guests.

We recommend visiting the famous tourist stops:

1. Lower Dniester National Nature Park. A real kingdom of flora and fauna. River otters and European mink hunt here, pink pelicans and swans live here, and eagles and harriers watch for prey from the sky. Today, there are two eco-trails on the territory, namely "Shepit Zaplav" and "Dniester".
2. Shabo Winery. Here tourists can learn how grapes are processed and where the alcoholic beverage is stored. They will also get acquainted with the production process and take a walk in the orchard.
3. European Cheese Factory. Here travelers will listen to a lecture about the farm, cow keeping, and cow care. They will see the chambers where dairy products ripen and, of course, taste them.
4. Akkerman Fortress. The historical and architectural monument is located in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. It was built in the Late Middle Ages on the site of the ruins of the ancient polis of Tiras. By the way, it offers an incredible view of the reservoir.
5. Lyman Nature Reserve. This natural wonder is located between the villages of Semenivka and Moloda and covers an area of about 65 hectares. It is home to artificially planted plants of various forest species. The area is part of the Lower Dniester National Park.
