Lazy fish pie from puff pastry: it is easy to prepare
Puff pastry is the perfect base for delicious and quick baking. You can choose any filling – it will always be satisfying. A great option would be to use canned fish.
The idea of making a hearty fish puff pastry was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Anastasiia with the nickname anny.cooking. Tomatoes and cheese will add a special juiciness.
Ingredients:
- puff pastry – 500 g
- sardines (canned in the marinade or olive oil) – 350 g (3 packages)
- onion – 1 pc.
- tomatoes – 3 pcs.
- garlic – 1 clove
- olives – 10-15 pcs.
- mozzarella – 100 g
- egg – 1 pc (for lubrication)
- sesame seeds – to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Thaw the puff pastry in advance if it is frozen.
2. Drain the sardines from the marinade or oil, and mash them into small pieces with a fork.
3. Peel and chop the onion finely.
4. Dice the tomatoes.
5. Chop the garlic or pass it through a press.
6. Grate the mozzarella on a coarse grater.
7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 5 mm.
8. Put the dough in a baking dish or a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving the edges to fold over.
9. Spread the sardines evenly on the dough.
10. Sprinkle with chopped onion and chopped garlic.
11. Layer the tomato slices in several layers.
12. Evenly distribute the olives among the other ingredients.
13. Sprinkle grated mozzarella on top.
14. Fold the edges of the dough to the center, creating sides.
15. Brush the cake with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
16. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
17. Bake the cake for 20-25 minutes until the dough is golden and crispy.
18. Cool the finished cake for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
19. Serve warm as a separate dish or with a light salad.
