It will be like a picture: how to fertilize hydrangea
Hydrangea will become a real garden decoration. However, in order for the flowers to bloom longer and more luxuriantly, it is necessary to provide proper care, especially in terms of fertilization. Hydrangeas have special needs for minerals and nutrients, which they cannot always get in sufficient quantities from the soil.
Correct and timely fertilization helps not only to increase the size and brightness of the flowers but also to strengthen the root system and increase resistance to diseases and fungi. Kobieta Interia experts told us how to fertilize flowers.
How to fertilize hydrangeas in spring
Fertilizing ornamental plants should begin in early spring when the soil thaws. This is usually the period from March to early April. Timely fertilization will help them recover effectively after winter and provide them with the necessary nutrients to promote better growth.
It is during this period that you can use a natural fertilizer made from banana peels.
Banana peels contain a lot of potassium, which is important for the growth and development of hydrangeas. It helps to form buds, strengthen stems, and increase resistance to disease. In addition, the peel contains phosphorus, magnesium, and other useful trace elements.
Phosphorus stimulates the growth of the root system and promotes better flower bud formation. Magnesium helps to produce chlorophyll, which keeps the leaves deep green and healthy. Calcium strengthens plant tissues and helps to maintain the balance of soil acidity.
Banana peel is an organic fertilizer, so its use is safe for plants and the environment. You can be sure that hydrangeas receive only nutrients without harmful chemicals.
How to fertilize hydrangeas
Burying banana peels directly at the roots of the hydrangea is an easy and environmentally friendly way to naturally fertilize. Through their gradual decomposition, they release nutrients into the soil, which stimulates plant development and enhances flowering.
Beforehand, the peels should be thoroughly cleaned, for example, by immersing them in water with baking soda. This is a way to get rid of any residues of drugs that may have been used to treat the fruit so that it can withstand transportation and shelf life.
Dry the peels, cut them into smaller pieces, and bury them in the topsoil next to the hydrangeas.
You can also prepare a solution. Chop the peels of 2-3 bananas, pour 1 liter of water, and leave to stand for 24-48 hours. After that, water the hydrangea with the resulting solution every 2-3 weeks.
