Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi said that in September 2024, schoolchildren will receive new textbooks on the history of Ukraine, which will include a section on a full-scale war with Russia. The official noted that in the 11th grade, students study modern history, so high school students will study the subject with changes.

Vynnytskyi said this in an interview with UNN. He said that a working process is currently underway to ensure that all terms and content are accurate.

"Textbooks will appear in schools in September. It means that the 11th grade begins with the liberation struggle of 2014-2021 and continues to modern times. Intensive work is now underway to verify both the terminology and substance of everything related to the most recent era, meaning the Russian invasion. The work process is underway," said Deputy Lisovyi.

As a reminder, in addition to the history of Ukraine, schools will update the teaching of the subject "Defense of Ukraine." The new program will no longer separate boys and girls in teaching the subject, and will include more practical skills. Students will also learn information security, first aid, and drones. The discipline will eliminate the Soviet Union's legacy and emphasize technology and intrinsic motivation to defend one's country.
