How to water orchids so that they bloom often: a secret from flower growers
The most common type of orchid, the moth orchid, which is usually sold in stores, has a dormant period of six to nine months.
To get frequent and abundant flowering, you need to know about the correct watering regime for these flowers. This is what OBOZ.UA will tell you about, based on the advice of experienced growers.
During the dormant period, when only the bare stems remain, the watering schedule needs to be adjusted to ensure good flowering in the spring.
It is worth remembering that during the dormant period, the orchid needs less water than during the growth period. In addition, there is a "trick" that will help you find out when an orchid needs to be watered.
To do this, wait until the thick roots turn silver, and then immerse the entire pot in warm water for a few seconds; this is enough for the roots to turn green again.
All orchids can be watered in this way – just wait until they are slightly dry. At the same time, watering the plant with fertilizer is the recommended strategy for every "second watering."
You should not feed the orchid with fertilizer during each watering, as this can lead to the accumulation of toxins.
