When temperatures plummet and central heating creates a dry atmosphere, indoor plants can suffer. They can start to wilt, become crispy, or even sag if you have watered too much.

The ability to absorb much less daylight can also cause problems for indoor plants. Fortunately, according to experts, one item from your bathroom can radically change the situation, OBOZ.UA writes.

Epsom salt, a natural mineral compound made up of magnesium sulfate, can work wonders for indoor plants if used correctly.

It is an affordable tool that ensures that your home is a thriving green oasis throughout the season. In winter, leaves often lose color due to less sunlight. This salt can compensate for the lack of it by increasing magnesium levels. After all, yellowing leaves can indicate a magnesium deficiency.

To combat this, dissolve one teaspoon of salt in a jug or watering can and water the plants with this solution once a month.

Epsom salt also contains sulfur, which can play an important role in root development by helping the plant absorb nutrients.

Stronger roots will help plants withstand seasonal stresses. Simply sprinkle some English salt around the base of the plant before watering to help the sulfur reach the root.

Certain plants that can benefit from this include poinsettias and Christmas cacti, as they bloom during the winter months. By using Epsom salt on these winter-blooming plants, owners can expect "long-lasting, vibrant blooms."

Magnesium also improves nutrient absorption. This ensures that your plants get the most out of their soil, including nitrogen and phosphorus, and if you use fertilizers, Epsom salts can be a useful addition to your care routine.
