There is a widespread belief that zamioculcas is an unpretentious plant: you just need to choose the right place and water it occasionally. Indeed, zamioculcas grows well both in bright diffused light and in partial shade. Universal soil with the addition of sand for better drainage is suitable for the plant.

However, it often happens that the leaves begin to turn yellow and the plant becomes frail. Experts told us how to stimulate the growth of zamioculcas.

Optimal conditions for zamioculcas

If the zamioculcas has not been producing new shoots and leaves for some time, you should first check whether it has the right conditions for normal growth.

Zamioculcas is not demanding on air humidity. Spraying the leaves can be done in the summer to remove dust. The plant prefers moderate watering. The topsoil should dry out between waterings.

The optimum temperature for the plant is 18-25°C. In winter, the temperature should not drop below 16°C.

Young plants are transplanted annually in spring, adults - every 2-3 years. The transplant pot should be slightly larger than the previous one. There must be a drainage layer at the bottom of the container.

How to stimulate the growth of zamioculcas

To stimulate the growth of zamioculcas, experts advise using a rather unexpected ingredient - gelatin. You need to dissolve one teaspoon of the product in 200 ml of warm water, mix thoroughly and wait until the liquid cools.

Then you should dilute the prepared gelatin fertilizer with three glasses of water and thoroughly water the plant with the resulting mixture.

It is generally accepted that it is better not to apply fertilizer in winter and autumn, because an excessive dose of nutrients can weaken a dormant plant.

In winter, you can replace the stimulating gelatin with a fertilizer with a high potassium content. It can be prepared in a simple, homemade way. Simply throw a banana peel into a large jar, cover it with a liter of warm water and leave it for a day. Pour the undiluted mixture over the zamioculcas and you will see how soon it will begin to form new leaves, getting stronger until spring.
