A decrease in the average daily temperature and the first frost can cause problems for motorists with access to the car. To prevent this from happening, AutoOboz has prepared 6 simple tips on how to quickly defrost a car door lock.

Before you start warming up the lock on the driver's door, check that it is not frozen on the passenger door. If you managed to get into the cabin through the passenger door, do not immediately try to open the driver's door. Moreover, do not use brute force to do so. Otherwise, you may damage the lock mechanism and the rubber seals on the doors.

If you have managed to insert the key all the way in, but the lock still won't turn, try gently rotating the key from right to left and tapping lightly on the door near the lock at the same time. If you feel that the amplitude of rotation increases with each movement, the lock will open soon.

If the key is not inserted, then you need to warm up the lock using one of the following methods:

1: You can heat the key thoroughly with a lighter or by dipping the key's tip in boiling water. In the first case, it is important not to melt the plastic parts of the key, and in the second case, to prevent water from getting inside the case and damaging the electronics.

2: If there are other motorists in the parking lot, ask for a cigarette lighter. Heat it up until it is red and, with the heating element extended, press it against the lock lug for 20-30 seconds. Do this very carefully so as not to burn yourself or damage the chrome plating of the larva.

4: As an alternative to a hair dryer, you can use a heating pad to defrost the lock, but do not pour boiling water on the lock.

5: Use a special spray or liquid to defrost the lock. If you don't have one, you can use a regular sanitizer.

6 to use the defroster key fob. It has a retractable sting that is heated by two batteries located in the case. The disadvantages of both the spray and the keychain defroster are that you need to carry them with you at all times.
