How to properly store stollen so that it does not deteriorate: a few tips
Stollen is a traditional German pastry prepared for Christmas. Its shape and white color resemble the swaddling clothes in which Jesus Christ was wrapped at birth. The key feature of this pastry is the large amount of filling and the possibility of long-term storage.
On the eve of the New Year holidays, the hostess has a lot to do, so preparing some dishes in advance can greatly facilitate the preparation process. Shtolen also has an interesting secret: the longer it is stored, the tastier it becomes. FoodOboz figured out how to store stollen properly so that it doesn't spoil.
Tips for storing stollen
- When still hot, brush the stollen generously with melted high-quality butter and sprinkle with plenty of powdered sugar. Instead of butter, you can use 50 ml of cognac or rum.
- After that, leave the dish at room temperature overnight.
- The next day, wrap the dish in parchment paper, foil, or cling film. Additionally, wrap it in a towel.
- Put the stollen in a dry, cool place for 2-4 weeks. During this time, the pastry will have time to infuse well.
