How to open a canning jar without effort: an ingenious life hack
You've probably faced a situation where you need to open a can of food with a screw cap, but no amount of effort can help. People try all sorts of things to cope with this common problem. One simple life hack can help.
DIY blogger Pinto shared it on his YouTube channel. To deal with a stubborn lid, he advised using a simple elastic band. (To watch the video, scroll down to the end of the news story)
There can be two reasons why a jar lid doesn't come off: either it's too tightly screwed on, or the person removing it lacks physical strength. Of course, they can be combined. An elastic band will help overcome both obstacles and make the task much easier.
The best way to open a jar is to take a wide elastic band, but a regular one will do too. Wrap it around the lid so that it fits approximately in the middle of the side of the jar and sits on it tightly enough. Next, take the jar in one hand and grab the lid with the other so that you can grip the rubber band well. This small object will make the grip of your hand on the object stronger and you will need much less effort to unscrew the lid. You will do it in one easy motion.
