How to make the perfect baked potato: don't make this mistake

Baked potatoes are a quick and convenient meal when you don't want to cook after a long day, but even they can be disappointing if they turn out tasteless and bland.

Kate, a chef and founder of Cookie and Kate, said that the biggest mistake people make when cooking baked potatoes is wrapping them in foil, Express writes.

According to her, the foil retains moisture, which makes the potatoes soft and tasteless. If you want to get a crispy skin, the best thing to do is to brush the potatoes with oil and butter before taking them out of the oven.

Ingredients:

  • One to four medium-sized potatoes;
  • One tablespoon of melted butter or extra virgin oil;
  • Salt;
  • Favorite toppings (cheese, sour cream, green onions, etc.).

How to cook:

1. First, preheat the oven to 220C and place the rack directly in the middle of the oven.

2. Peel the potatoes under running water and make sure to prick all the potatoes with a fork.

3. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet on the middle rack and then cook for 45 minutes to one hour. You will know that the baked potatoes are done when a fork easily pierces the center of the potato.

4. When the potatoes are done, remove them from the oven and brush the skins with melted butter (or oil). Sprinkle with salt and return to the oven to bake for another 10 minutes.

5. When the time is up, take them out of the oven and cut them open. Add your favorite toppings, and your perfect appetizing baked potatoes are ready to serve.
