How to get rid of wasps in the cottage: effective ways

Everything would be great about summer if it weren't for annoying and dangerous insects. Wasp stings contain powerful allergens, so you need to act immediately. Dermatitis, urticaria, Quincke's edema, skin blisters, and even anaphylactic shock are just a few of the allergic manifestations.

How to drive wasps out

If wasps regularly appear in the cottage, it is likely that the insects have built a nest nearby, and the best thing you can do is to find and remove it.

Most often, wasps nest behind walls, under balconies or window sills, in air conditioners and cabinets, or in pantries or basements.

The nest should be destroyed with a special insecticide, but it is better to contact a specialist to avoid injuring yourself.

General tips for removing wasps and hornets

• In the early morning, before the sun comes up, insects are usually sleepy, so there is less risk of them attacking you.
• Insecticides have a very pungent and strong odor, so you should leave the house for a while if you are treating. Inhaling these fumes can be harmful.
• Make sure you have protective clothing and footwear.
• Wasps and hornets do not tolerate certain odors, so their nesting places can be treated with essential oils, a solution of water and vinegar, or a solution of water and dishwashing detergent in a 3:1 ratio.
• When using industrial insecticides, note that they are quite toxic but do not have a pungent odor and are available in different versions: powder, gel, spray, or concentrate.
• Boric acid is also an effective insect control agent.
• Glue baits are usually effective for flies only. They are unlikely to cope with a hornet swarm.
