How to clean tiles to a shine: a win-win method
Cleanliness and order in the home is a guarantee of health and comfort. However, there are places in the house that are extremely difficult to clean.
One important aspect of home maintenance is cleaning tiles and grout between them. Rebekka Ladner, CEO of Melbourne-based Queen of Clean, told us how to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Tiles, due to their smooth surface, seem to be an easy surface to clean, but in practice, it is more complicated. Over time, they become covered with plaque, dirt and grease deposits that are difficult to remove with conventional means. In addition, the seams can become a real "breeding ground" for mold and bacteria, which requires additional attention during cleaning.
The expert has tried all the life hacks for cleaning tiles, including baking soda, vinegar, and special detergents, but none of them gave the desired result. In addition, they required too much time and effort. Fortunately, however, Ladner found a way to deal with the tough stains.
How do I clean tiles and grout between them?
Dissolve two scoops of stain remover in a bucket of water and spread the mixture over the tiles before scrubbing thoroughly at the most soiled areas. However, be careful because the tiles will be very slippery at this time.
After you are done scrubbing the stains from the floor, rinse it with a solution of hot water and methylated spirits.
Tips
- Test any new cleaners on a small area to make sure they won't discolor or damage the surface;
- It is usually easier to use a hand brush to clean grout between wall tiles or in small spaces;
- If you damage the tiles, rinse off the detergent with water as soon as possible;
- Clean the floor last so that dust does not fall on it during usual cleaning.
