This technique has an apt name: "sandwich". It is about applying blush in two stages.
"Sandwich" technique
To begin with, choose a foundation that is not too dense. It should cover all skin imperfections but not create a mask effect. To apply the cream, use a damp sponge as this will ensure that the coverage is quite even and thin.
