Most housewives don't even think about where to store bananas properly. However, such knowledge is really necessary to keep the fruit fresh for as long as possible. If stored improperly, bananas can spoil within a few days and become unsuitable even for use in desserts.

Most often, bananas are stored next to other fruits, but this has proven to be the worst place for them. With this storage method, bananas will turn black in a very short time. So where not to store bananas, FoodOboz tells you.

A large amount of fruit in a vase or other small space causes the accumulation of ethylene gas. It causes all the fruit around it to lose its freshness almost instantly. To avoid spoilage, bananas should be kept away from tangerines, lemons, and oranges, as well as other fruits with dense skin.

The most interesting thing is that bananas emit ethylene in the largest amount. This process spoils other nearby fruits and vegetables, as well as the bananas themselves. Therefore, if you want to preserve the freshness of the fruit for more than one or two days, it is better to store bananas separately from other fruits. Conversely, if you need to quickly "ripen" an avocado, for example, just put it next to this delicious yellow fruit.
