How and why to fertilize eggplants in the garden in August

Eggplants are versatile garden crops. They can be fried, baked, pickled - they will add richness and flavor to any dish. However, these are rather whimsical vegetables, so you need to know certain nuances of growing them.

How to grow delicious eggplants

Eggplants love warmth. In hot weather, the ovaries actively grow, especially if you provide proper watering and fertilization.

However, as soon as the temperature begins to drop slightly, even to a seemingly quite comfortable +23℃, and drops below 15℃ at night, eggplants freeze in growth.

In August, it's better to add some nutrients to get as much of a harvest as possible. Even during the fruiting period, experts advise continuing nitrogen fertilizing, but be sure to combine them or alternate with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.

How to feed eggplant

An organic infusion of herbs (even weeds will come in handy) will improve growth and yield. Dilute one liter of the infusion in 10 liters of clean water. Organics are rich in nitrogen, so after a few days, you should add phosphorus-potassium fertilizer.

Potash fertilization stimulates eggplant growth and increases yields. Plants can be watered with wood ash under the root. Stir one glass of wood ash in 10 liters of water and leave for a day.

Potassium humate is a natural fertilizer that improves ovary growth.

Dissolve one tablespoon of mineral fertilizer in a glass of hot water and add 10 liters of clean water for irrigation. Eggplants should be watered at the root, at the rate of no more than 1 liter per plant.

When to harvest the fruit

There is one interesting rule for the rapid growth of eggplant ovaries. It is important not to forget about timely harvesting. Eggplants should be harvested regularly so that the fruits do not overgrow and seed formation does not begin.

It is better to pick the first fruits earlier so that the growth process of the next stage of the harvest begins faster.
