Half of Ukrainians do not support 12-year schooling: survey results

Ukrainians do not support high school reform

Almost half of the Ukrainians who took part in the survey have a negative attitude toward 12-year education, and only 27.5% have a positive attitude. Instead, school profiling was supported by 74.2% of respondents, while 4.2% opposed it.

Such data were provided by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the Association of Political Psychologists of Ukraine during a presentation at the Interfax-Ukraine press center. 10 years ago, 69.3% opposed such changes, while 12.4% supported them.

It also became known that 69% of Ukrainians believe that education needs to be reformed.

Thus, 31.2% of respondents are positive about the reform, and 27.3% are negative. At the same time, 5.9% strongly disagree or rather disagree, 23% could not answer the question, and 2.1% indicated that they did not care.

49.1% of Ukrainians have a negative attitude towards the reduction of state-funded places at universities, while 37.5% support such changes.

At the same time, 81.5% of respondents approved of tuition grants, while only 4.8% did not support it.

27.4% of respondents said that the 2024 admission campaign was free of corruption, and 41.7% disagreed.

The survey was conducted on October 14-23, 2024. It was attended by 1513 respondents aged 18 and older.
