Going against Rebrov: Burbas says Zinchenko had an open conflict with the coach several months ago
Ukrainian journalist Ihor Burbas spoke about the conflict between Serhiy Rebrov and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the Ukrainian national football team. The incident allegedly occurred several months ago, but Burbas did not air it in order not to harm the team at Euro 2024.
It was only after the Yellow and Blues were out of the European Championship that he decided to reveal this insight.
"There was an almost open conflict between Zinchenko and Rebrov. I have confirmed information from the team members, so I am guaranteed to be responsible for it. In the national team camp, Zinchenko was unhappy with Rebrov's methods of work, went around and stressed the guys, saying things like, 'Man, Rebrov's methods are not clear. We are playing very complicated somehow. Before, everything was simple'," Burbas said.
The journalist noted that the situation was not left to chance.
"I would like to end this story with the fact that this conflict has been resolved. Rebrov and Zinchenko have talked. According to my information, they have no problems now. Everything is fine, they shook hands," Burbas said.
As reported, in the 1st round of the 2024 UEFA European Championship, the Yellow and Blues sensationally lost to one of the weakest participants in the championship, Romania, with a score of 0: 3.
In the second round, our team showed character and snatched a strong-willed victory over Slovakia with a score of 2:1.
In the third round of Euro 2024, the Ukrainian national team failed to beat Belgium. The match at the Stuttgart Arena in Germany ended with a score of 0:0.
In a parallel match in Group E, Romania and Slovakia also failed to find a winner (1:1). As a result, Ukraine remained in 4th place and finished the tournament.
Ukraine became the first team in the history of the European Championships to fail to advance from the group with four points.
