Fans will be delighted: Warner Bros. has clarified the Harry Potter series
Fans of the Harry Potter universe are eagerly awaiting the release of the series, which promises to deepen our understanding of the wizarding world of J.K. Rowling. New details about this ambitious project have been revealed by the Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. TV Group Chairman and CEO Channing Dungey.
According to Dungey, work on the series is already underway. The screenwriters have already started adapting the books, and casting is ongoing throughout the UK and Ireland. Particular attention is paid to finding young actors who will play the main characters - Harry, Ron and Hermione, Deadline Hollywood reports.
The head of Warner Bros. emphasized that working on such a project is a dream come true for him. He sees the series as an opportunity to reveal the Harry Potter universe in more detail than was done in the movies. Dungy noted that the series will allow us to dive deeper into J.K. Rowling's books and explore their nuances.
Interestingly, this statement somewhat contradicts the opinion of one of the series' screenwriters, Andy Greenwald, who admitted that he had not read all the books in the series. Greenwald expressed doubts about the feasibility of an absolutely accurate adaptation of Rowling's works.
Despite these disagreements, work on the series continues. It is expected to debut on HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery Max streaming service in 2026.
We remind you that the order for the series was announced in April 2023. The showrunner of the project is Francesca Gardiner, known for The Heirs. The executive producers are Mark Milod (Game of Thrones) and J.K. Rowling herself.
Casting for the main characters is ongoing. Young actors aged 9 to 11 who are residents of the UK or Ireland are invited to audition.
