Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has stated that Belarus needs to further strengthen its defense capabilities and prepare to confront the enemy in the event of military aggression. At the same time, he claims that Belarus itself is not going to fight.

This was reported by the state news agency BELTA. Lukashenko made the relevant statements on September 24 at a meeting at the Obuz-Lesnovsky military training ground.

"The old formula: if you want peace, prepare for war. I want to emphasize once again (although there is no need to justify ourselves to anyone here) that we are not going to fight, we do not want to fight... All this has already been said. Our opponents and rivals are listening, but they are doing their own thing. Those who are preparing against us, we will speak frankly, we will fight. Therefore, we need to prepare for war. And God forbid that this war does not happen," he said.

According to the dictator, no matter how tense the situation around Belarus is, Minsk has "no tendencies" to launch a war against them.

Belarus has already reformed its army four times, taking into account the experience of both "events at the front in the neighboring state" and military conflicts in the world in recent years. Now Belarus is approaching the modernization of its armed forces for the fifth time, Lukashenko said.

At the Obuz-Lisnovsky training ground, he was presented with innovations in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles, which have become a new word in the tactics of modern warfare.

"Drones are a serious novelty. Yes, it probably won't bring the war back if it happens. But it will significantly affect the course of hostilities. Drones are a serious matter. As the military say, it is very effective and profitable from the point of view of war. It's a scary thing to say, but it's true nonetheless. Today, as I said, the warring parties do not spare drones to hunt one person. Because it is cheaper than training a soldier," the illegally elected president said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– Lukashenko said that Minsk would not give orders to fight outside Belarus. The reason is that the neighboring country has a "completely understandable and honest policy" regarding the situation in Ukraine.

– Against the backdrop of Belarus' troops being pulled closer to the border with Ukraine, border guards of the State Border Guard Service in Chernihiv region have stepped up monitoring and are conducting surveillance on land, water, and in the air. Our defenders are in constant combat readiness.
