Delicious apple pies like in childhood: an easy and budget-friendly recipe

Food blogger Nadiia Ptashka shared on Instagram how to make apple pies to taste like they did in childhood. The easy-to-make and budget-friendly recipe will surely appeal to everyone.
Ingredients for the dough
- Milk – 250 ml
- Water – 250 ml
- Sugar – 6 tbsp
- Pressed yeast – 50 gr
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Oil – 6 tbsp
- Vodka – 1 tbsp
- Starch – 1 tbsp
- Flour – 850-880 g
Ingredients for the filling
- Medium apples without peel – 6 pcs
- Sugar – 5 tbsp
- Corn starch – 2 tbsp + water
Additional ingredients
- Sesame seeds
- Egg
- Syrup (water + sugar)
How to cook
1. Mix warm milk and water in a bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and knead the dough. First, knead with a whisk, transfer it to a floured surface, and knead with your hands.
2. Put the dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and place in a warm place for 1 hour.
3. During this time, prepare the filling. Grate the apples on a medium grater and put them in a hot, dry frying pan.
4. Add sugar and caramelize for 2 minutes.
5. Add the starch diluted with water and turn off the heat as soon as the mixture thickens.
6. Knead the dough and form balls of 60 grams each. Cover with a towel and leave for 10 minutes.
7. Knead each ball with your hands, put the filling in, and form patties. Cover with a towel and leave for another 10 minutes.
8. Brush with egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and bake for 25-30 minutes at 180 degrees.
9. Grease the still-hot pies with syrup.
