Crispy chebureks: how to make dough with sparkling water
Chebureks are a traditional Crimean Tatar dish that became a part of the diet of not only Ukrainians but also other peoples of the world many years ago. It is a delicious meat pie fried in a large amount of oil. It has a crispy crust on the outside, and the filling is full of incredible aroma and flavor.
A food blogger with the nickname foodblog_kristi shared on Instagram how to properly prepare the dough for chebureks so that they do not open during cooking. She believes that the most successful dough for this dish is the one made with sparkling water.
Ingredients
- Flour – 500 gr
- Sparkling water – 250 ml
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
Ingredients for the filling
- Minced meat – 600 gr
- Onions – 2 pcs
- Water – 70-80 ml
- Salt and pepper
- Pepper
Method of preparation
1. Pour flour into a bowl, add salt, sugar, and oil. Rub with your hands.
2. Pour in the freshly opened sparkling water and knead the dough. At first, the dough will be too stiff, but in the process of kneading, it will become homogeneous and very elastic. It should take about 10 minutes.
3. Put the dough in a bag and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
4. Add grated onion, salt, and pepper to the minced meat, and pour in water. Mix thoroughly.
5. Divide the dough into 12 equal parts.
6. Roll out each one, put the minced meat on half of the circle, and form a cheburek, pinch the edges tightly.
7. Fry in well-heated vegetable oil until golden brown.
8. Put the finished chebureks on a paper towel.
