China launches world's fastest internet: 150 movies can be downloaded in just a second

China launches world's first 1.2 Tbps internet connection

China has launched the world's fastest internet, capable of transmitting data at 1.2 Tbps, allowing you to download 150 HD movies in just one second. The cable network, called the backbone network, stretches for a distance of 3000 km from Beijing in the north and Guangzhou in Guangdong province in the south.

This was reported by Interesting Engineering. It is noted that the backbone network is part of the Chinese Future Internet Technology Infrastructure (FITI) project, which was launched in 2013.

China's achievements in wired data transmission came shortly after the Middle Kingdom boasted of installing 3.19 million base stations, demonstrating 5G's dominance in wireless telephony. These installations not only outpace the US in terms of numbers, but they are also helping the eastern country transform its industrial sector to engage in high-tech manufacturing.

The world's fastest Internet has arrived two years earlier than industry estimates predicted. China aims to use this network capacity for national education and research, as well as to support its 5G networks and electric vehicles, which are growing in use in the country.

The launch of the superfast network is also proof of China's growing technical capabilities, as all the software and hardware used is made in China. For many years, China has relied on Japan and the United States for components to develop its Internet infrastructure, but for FITI, the country has begun to develop all components locally, including switches, fiber optic connections, and routers.

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Engineering developed ultra-fast routers capable of handling more data than ever before. The team also worked on aggregating multiple optical paths to increase the upper limit of data transmission.

The entire project is expected to be ready by the end of the year.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, China intends to make a technological breakthrough by 2025 and start mass production of humanoid robots that can be used in "harsh" conditions. By 2027, the country intends to become a world leader in this field.
