Beet caviar: how to prepare a simple and interesting Vinaigrette alternative

Beetroot caviar is a tasty, colorful, and healthy appetizer that is a great alternative to the usual Vinaigrette salad. It has a delicate texture, a pleasant sweet and sour taste, and a spicy flavor. It is prepared very simply and from budget products. This caviar can be served as an independent dish, used as a spread or just as an addition to side dishes.

The idea of making delicious beetroot caviar was shared by food blogger Eduard Nasirov (my happyfood) on his Instagram page. Try this recipe and it will definitely become one of your favorites.

Ingredients:

  • beets (baked) - 2 pcs
  • onion - 2 pcs
  • apple cider vinegar - 1-2 tbsp
  • vegetable oil - 4 tbsp
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • cinnamon - 1/3 tsp
  • cloves (crushed buds) - 2 pcs
  • salt, pepper - to taste
  • other herbs (optional)

Method of preparation:

1. Grate the baked beets or pass them through a meat grinder.

2. Finely chop the onion.

3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion until soft, stirring constantly.

4. Add beets, stir and fry for another 2-3 minutes.

5. Add apple cider vinegar, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, salt and pepper.

6. Mix well.

7. Heat for a few more minutes to  all the flavors.

8. Can be served both hot and chilled.
