In recent years, Europe has been experiencing a tourist boom, which makes life in some particularly popular cities much less comfortable. Therefore, various organizations periodically compile ratings of places forgotten by tourists, where it would be nice to settle down.

According to the Express edition, the new comprehensive report of the European Commission included Poland's Bialystok. It took the first place by the percentage of residents who believe that their quality of life has recently improved. The study covered most European countries, and Bialystok surpassed many well-known cities such as Rome, London and Berlin.

Bialystok is located near the border with Belarus and is the center of Polish multiculturalism. Over the centuries, Belarusians, Tatars, Roma and Jews have settled here, leaving a huge cultural footprint on the city. This has resulted in a remarkably diverse architectural landscape.

The town boasts beautiful wooden houses in the midst of numerous churches. In addition, the only Tatar settlements in Poland can be seen here. Bialystok is also famous for its murals.

If you love nature, the Bialowieza Forest, one of the last fragments of a huge primeval forest that once covered the Great European Plain, is very close by. The site is now under UNESCO protection.

The population of Białystok is 290,000, making it the 10th largest city in Poland. A significant part of the residents represent the older generation - already reached the age of 50. This part of the citizens, as a rule, does not speak English. The young people, on the other hand, speak it fluently and are always happy to help tourists.

European tourists are advised to try kartache - potato dumplings filled with minced meat. Of course, one of the specialties of Bialystok is Polish jur - a sour soup dressed with sourdough based on oat or rye flour. A specialty dessert is the Polish poppy seed roll.

The architectural adornment of Bialystok is the Archicathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The inhabitants of the city are often quite religious, so they often attend services in this temple, and on holidays they organize real celebrations. Therefore, where else to feel the local atmosphere, as not here.
