A very hearty and delicious pea soup for dinner: how long should you cook it for the peas to soften
Homemade soups can be made from any cereal or vegetable. One of the most delicious and satisfying is pea soup. For the peas to cook through, they need to be soaked in water overnight; cooks advise adding baking soda to the water.
The cook shared a recipe on Instagram for a very easy-to-prepare and delicious pea soup with meat.
The pea soup takes 60 minutes to cook!
Ingredients:
- Peas 200-300 g
- Onion 1 pc
- Carrots 1 pc
- Potatoes 1-2 pcs
- Chicken breast 200 g
- Bay leaf 2 pcs
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil 50 ml
- Butter 50 g
- Tomato paste 1 tbsp
- Water 2 liters
Method of preparation:
1. Rinse the peas well under running water. Wash the chicken breasts, cut them into portions, and fry them in vegetable oil until almost done.
2. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes. Add the chopped onion to the frying pan with the meat and fry, stirring constantly.
3. Bring the water to a boil, add the washed peas and bay leaf. Add a tablespoon of oil and salt to the soup.
4. Add the grated carrots to the onion and chicken breast in the frying pan. Add a tablespoon of butter to the frying pan. The butter will add a creamy flavor to the soup.
5. Add the diced or cubed potatoes to the pot, cover the pot with a lid, and cook until the potatoes are tender. Add a tablespoon of tomato paste to the roast and mix well. Add pepper and salt. As soon as the potatoes are cooked, transfer the roast to the pan. Mix everything, taste it, and add salt and pepper if necessary. Let the soup boil for a few more minutes and remove the pot from the heat.
Serve the soup with fresh herbs and hot ground pepper.
