The 4th stage of the World Cup started in Oberhof

The women's sprint race opened this year's first and fourth Biathlon World Cup stage of the season, hosted by Oberhof, Germany. The fans immediately witnessed a big sensation as the entire podium went to the athletes who won for the first time.

The race was held in extremely difficult weather conditions – in the rain, with strong winds and fog. This resulted in only five biathletes managing to knock out all 10 targets. Among them was the leader of the Ukrainian team, Yuliia Dzhyma, who finished 14th.

Paula Botet, a debutant from the French national team, won the competition. She covered the 7.5 kilometers of the course in 22 minutes and 52 seconds, without making any mistakes.

"The silver medal went to Norwegian Maren Kirkeeide, who was 31 seconds behind the winner. Milena Todorova from Bulgaria took third place on the podium. Interestingly, all three winners not only became World Cup medalists for the first time but also made their debut in individual races.
