In Egypt, in the village of Saqqara, a magnificent tomb dating back 4100 years was found. It belonged to the Pharaoh's doctor.
The Swiss-French team of researchers who made the discovery reported that the doctor was named Tetinebefu. Despite the fact that the artifacts in the tomb were looted long ago, archaeologists were able to study various wall paintings and hieroglyphic signs that describe the position of the doctor and depict various objects that may have been used during treatment, LiveScience writes.

According to scientists, this pharaoh's physician held the title of "wizard of the goddess Selket," who was associated with scorpions and was believed to protect against their stings. This title meant that "he was a specialist in poisonous bites," said Philippe Collomber, head of the Swiss-French research team and Egyptologist at the University of Geneva.
The ancient tomb belonged to the royal physician and "magician of the goddess Selket."

The inscriptions also say that the "head of medicinal plants" rests here. According to experts, this title was important, as only one similar one has been found so far during discoveries in ancient Egypt. The inscriptions on the walls also proclaim that the buried man was the "chief dentist," another title that is rarely found.

These honorary titles show that Tetinebefu was no ordinary doctor. "He was undoubtedly the chief physician at the royal court, meaning he treated the pharaoh himself," Collomber said.

Dating back more than 4,000 years to the reign of King Pepi II, this important find features exquisite carvings and vibrant artwork, including painted false doors and intricate scenes depicting funeral offerings, Arkeonews reports.
The walls "are richly decorated with paintings in bright fresh colors. It is easy to forget that they are 4000 years old," the research team noted.

According to Collomber, apart from the paintings and inscriptions on the walls, the tomb "was completely looted." So no human remains were found either.
Excavations in this area of Saqqara began in 2022 to unearth the graves of King Pepi's civil servants, who are buried next to him and his wives, officials from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said.
