A CIA agent is at the center of the plot: what you need to know about the new series The Agency with Richard Gere
Hollywood actor Richard Gere has only played in TV series twice in his half-century career. And his second work on the small screen is to be released soon on Paramount+ streaming.
The series is titled The Agency and will be an adaptation of the French Bureau of Legends, which aired from 2015 to 2020. Entertainment Weekly has shown the first footage of the upcoming political thriller.
The main character and Gere's main partner in the series will be Michael Fassbender (Alien: Covenant, Prometheus, X-Men franchise). He will play a CIA agent with the call sign The Martian. After six years of undercover work, he has to leave his post and return to his office in London. And also to his real identity. Now, the Martian is faced with the task of integrating into the structure of the agency's work under the leadership of the experienced Bosco - this role was entrusted to Gere.
In his new job, the protagonist is haunted by the shadows of the past. This is how old romantic relationships return to his life, jeopardizing his career. What will he choose - work or love?
In addition to Fassbender and Gere, the cast of the series also includes Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston and John Magaro. It is known that Wright will play the protagonist's mentor, the director of CIA operations. And Turner-Smith got the role of a professor of social anthropology. She shares a common past with the Martian.
The first two episodes were directed by Joe Wright, the Oscar-winning director of Dark Times, who also worked on some episodes of Black Mirror. The directing team also includes Zetna Fuentes, Grant Heslow and Philip Martin. The original screenplay by Eric Rochon was adapted by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth.
The exact release date of The Agency has not yet been announced. It is known that Paramount+ plans to release it later this fall.
