Jiang Ping, a 17-year-old girl from a poor village in China, took 12th place out of 802 at the Alibaba World Math Competition. The student left behind students from Harvard, Oxford, and MIT, entering the top 20.
The first 85 participants of the competition will receive awards ranging from 2 to 30 thousand US dollars this year. This was reported by CNN.
It is known that the competition was launched in 2018 and is held online. Ping's high results were a real revelation, because usually students from poor educational institutions take the lowest places.
