5 documentaries about the Revolution of Dignity that everyone should watch

Everyone should watch these films about the Revolution of Dignity

It is important to remember our history despite the time that has passed since those events. Ten years ago, the Revolution of Dignity took place on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, which claimed the lives of more than a hundred concerned citizens, whose memory was captured in documentaries by Ukrainian filmmakers.

The #ShoTam media, together with the Cinema Squad, have created a selection of five most important films to watch to recall the events of the winter of 2014, thanks to which the Maidan and the whole of Ukraine "survived." These films convey the atmosphere of the events not only through the stories of witnesses and activists, but also help us understand the meaning of the struggle and the importance of freedom in our country.

"Winter on Fire"

The film chronicles the events of the winter of 2013-2014, demonstrating the "civil rights movement". It was started by students, who were later joined by people from all over Ukraine and turned a peaceful action into a full-fledged revolution.

The film won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for two awards: Golden Reel Award and Oscar in 2016.
