Will shine and repel water: what to rub plumbing with

The hard water that flows from our taps quickly covers plumbing fixtures such as faucets and showerheads with white spots. So, to keep them shining, you have to put in a lot of effort, wiping off limescale several times a day. But there is a life hack to make this task easier.

OBOZREVATEL has been looking into popular tricks and tells you about two of them. One is well-known but not working, and the other will really help keep your faucets shiny.

A non-working life hack

The Internet often advises rubbing glycerin on faucets to repel water. It does create a protective film on the faucets, but it is very unstable. Any ingress of soap suds dissolves the glycerin coating and the problem returns in full. Therefore, it is pointless to use this tool.

The better way to rub the faucets

But what really protects against water and, consequently, limescale is paraffin. The oil film that it forms on the surface is not easily destroyed by soap, so this protection will be much more reliable.

To protect your faucets from limescale, take a paraffin candle or just a piece of paraffin and rub it thoroughly on all sides. Then immediately rub the substance over the faucets with a dry cloth. It is best to choose a lint-free microfiber.
