What to feed cabbage after planting: Fertilizers that are useful in June and July

Feed cabbage in several stages. The first application of fertilizer begins two weeks after the seedlings are planted in the soil. The last best time is at the end of July or early August.

What to feed cabbage

10-14 days after planting seedlings on a bed of experienced gardeners recommend the following fertilizers in the soil:

  • ammonium nitrate;
  • superphosphate;
  • urea;
  • cowslip.

The second feeding begins in early June. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers will promote the formation of a large and strong cabbage, so at this stage you can use:

  • nitrophoska
  • azofoska;
  • ammonium sulfate; chicken manure;
  • cowslip.

The last feeding is done in late July or early August. It is best to use superphosphate, nitrophosphate or cowpea.

Late varieties will also benefit from a fourth fertilization. The last stage of fertilization can be repeated three weeks before harvest.

Recipes for the first fertilizer

Urea solution

Fill a bucket with cool wфter, add 1 tablespoon of urea and water the cabbage under the root.

Liquid cowslip

In a bucket of water dilute 0.5 l of liquid cowslip. Thoroughly stir and water the cabbage.

Ammonium nitrate

Dilute 1 tablespoon of ammonium nitrate in a bucket of water and perform evening root watering.

Recipes for the second top dressing

Nitrophoska fertilizer

Prepare a special solution for watering. Dilute 2 tablespoons of nitrophoska in a bucket of water and mix thoroughly until completely dissolved.

Poultry manure or cow dung

To prepare June fertilizer from poultry manure, dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:15. Similarly, dilute cowslip in water in the ratio of 1:10.

The third feeding

There are several options for the third feeding. In a bucket of water we add:

  • 40 g of potassium sulfate, or
  • 2 tbsp superphosphate, or
  • 500 ml of wood ash.

One of these solutions should be watered under the root of the cabbage.
