Asparagus and goji berries

Experienced gardeners know that there are a number of perennial crops that can be planted in the garden once and they will delight you with a bountiful harvest for years. These include watercress, leeks, goji berries, and red chicory.

So, in addition to the popular cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers, it is worth planting several perennial crops in the garden. Sante Plus magazine told us about some of them.

Sorrel

The spicy, slightly lemony, pungent taste of sorrel cannot be confused with anything else. It is one of the first plants to germinate with the onset of warmth, and begins to bloom in early June. It is recommended to pick the leaves while they are young.

Asparagus

Asparagus contains vitamins A, C, B1, B2 and E, as well as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc. It is good for the digestive and renal systems. Asparagus likes sunny weather and moist soil.

Horseradish

Grated horseradish is a versatile seasoning for many dishes. It is better to pick horseradish root fresh.

Rhubarb

Rhubarb is a finicky plant. If you do not harvest it in the first year after planting, the plant will take root and produce crops every year. Rhubarb has poisonous leaves, so only the stems are eaten.

Goji berries

Goji berries are used to make wine. They are also eaten as a snack, cooked in various dishes or eaten raw. Goji berries are native to East Asia, but have become very popular among Ukrainians.
