England scores two goals for Ukraine

The Ukrainian national football team lost to England in the 2nd round of the 2023 European Championship qualifiers. The match at the legendary Wembley Stadium ended with a score of 2-0.

OBOZREVATEL was broadcasting the game England vs Ukraine online.

The first minutes passed at a leisurely pace and in a bit of confusion, with no dangerous moments at either goal. The visitors tried to mark their pressure by meeting the Ukrainians near the centre circle. Gradually, the initiative began to pass to the England team. Using the flanks, Gareth Southgate's men created several threats to Trubin's goal.

In the 14th minute, the Yellow and Blues were able to strike for the first time in attack. Svatok sent Yaremchuk on a quick breakthrough, but the Brugge forward failed to hit the frame, and the offside was called.

After that, the game moved back to the centre of the pitch. Ukraine tried to organise a positional attack with a short pass to no avail. From time to time, our players failed to keep up with their opponents, stopping them only by breaking the rules.

England controlled the ball, pressing the Ukrainians to their goal. In the 30th minute, after another violation and a free kick from the flank, a cross to Kane followed, but he missed the frame.

The Ukrainian national team played the rest of the half in their own half of the field, but still conceded a goal. One of the next flankers found Harry Kane and the leader of the English team, jumping out from behind Oleksandr Karavayev, opened the scoring.

The English dominance continued and 3 minutes later they doubled their lead. Saka beat Trubin with a great shot.

In the second half, the hosts pressed, launching attack after attack, forcing our players to shoot straight at the rebound. The English rolled the ball slowly, not allowing the Ukrainian players to do anything.

Rotan tried to upgrade the flanks, releasing Buyalsky, Tsygankov and Sobol instead of Karavaev, Mudryk and Mykolenko, respectively.

This clearly played to the advantage of our team, which began to have half-chances in attack, but it never came to shots.

Statistically, by the middle of the second half, the Ukrainians looked very dull: 12/2 shots on goal (4/0 on target).

Until the final whistle, Ukraine failed to create anything, while England had a real chance to make the score a landslide, but Trubin showed a great reaction.

The Yellow and Blues will play their next match in the Euro 2024 qualifiers on June 16 against Northern Macedonia.
