Ukraine may withdraw "grain" claims to the WTO against three EU countries: condition is named

Ukraine may withdraw the lawsuits it has filed with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia over their grain embargoes. However, this requires that these countries provide guarantees that they will not restrict trade in the future.

This was emphasized by Taras Kachka, Ukraine's Trade Representative and Deputy Minister of Economy, during a telethon. At the same time, it is expected that the consideration of Ukraine's appeals will soon take place in Geneva, PAP writes.

"It is very important for us that the Polish side and other states guarantee us that such restrictions will not happen in the future... Only when we receive guarantees, we will formally announce to the whole world that this dispute is over," Kachka said.

He also emphasized that the issue of such guarantees is likely to be "the last to be considered." Therefore, we should not expect the lawsuit to be withdrawn anytime soon.

According to EU sources, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia will be represented in the WTO by the European Commission. However, the EC delegation includes representatives of these countries.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on September 27, Ukraine and Poland held grain talks. However, the Polish government still hints that it may impose an embargo on other products from Ukraine.

Earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called speculation the statements of the authorities of a number of countries, including Poland, about the negative impact of Ukrainian grain on their markets. Moreover, he emphasized that Ukrainian farmers are in a much worse situation.
